CNS*2010
July 24th – 30th 2010, San Antonio, Texas
Local organizers: Drs. James M. Bower, Charles Wilson, Todd Troyer (local@cnsorg.org)
CNS*2010 will kick off with a day of tutorials and an evening welcome reception on July 24th. The main meeting of CNS*2010 will take place from Sunday July 25th-Wednesday July 28th, including a special Symposium, "Twenty years of computational success", on the afternoons of July 26th-27th. These events will be followed by two days of workshops on July 29-30th (Thursday-Friday).
CNS*2010 will celebrate the 20 year history of the CNS meeting, with events and presentations celebrating where we have been and where we are going.
The main meeting will be held in the historic Sheraton Gunter Hotel in central San Antonio, one block from San Antonio's Famous River Walk. San Antonio is home to several universities including the University of Texas Health Science Center - San Antonio and the University of Texas San Antonio, which are both sponsoring CNS*2010. Computational Neuroscience has a strong presence in San Antonio represented by the Computational Biology Initiative and the Neurosciences Institute.
As is traditional, the CNS banquet will be an interesting and culturally appropriate event. Hosted at Sundance Ranch, the banquet will feature a wild boar roast, and other native texas food, lots of cold beer which will fortify you for the mechanical bull. CNSers will be able to rock (and country swing) the night away at Rio Medina's Spirits bar and saloon - a classic Texas Honky Tonk Road House with music provided in part by Ramon and the K-halls.
With major attractions like Sea World , Six Flags Fiesta Texas , Schlitterbahn and the nearby beautiful Texas Hill Country (30 miles), the music mecca of Austin Texas (60 miles), the Gulf of Mexico (120 miles) and even Mexico itself (150 miles), San Antonio is an outstanding place to bring your family, and visit for a few days. The conference hotel rates can be extended 4 days before and after the meeting.
We look forward to seeing all y'all (plural for y'all) in San Antonio in July.
